What do you want to do with the rest of your life?
A question from Lindsey’s mother, a week into her freshman year of high school. Lindsey says that moment planted a seed.
In Lindsey’s words
Lindsey Capelli, LPC, NCC, SAC
I became a therapist because I’ve always been drawn to understanding people; their stories, their relationships, and the experiences that shape how they move through the world. Over the years, that curiosity has grown into a deep interest in trauma, the brain, the nervous system, and our incredible capacity to heal.
What I want clients to know is that therapy doesn’t have to mean repeatedly retelling everything that has happened to you. Healing can happen in many different ways, and treatment should be individualized to the person sitting in front of me.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in both neuroscience and the therapeutic relationship. I pay attention not only to what you’re saying, but to what may be happening beneath the surface; in the body, nervous system, emotions, and patterns that can be difficult to put into words.
I believe people heal when they feel safe, understood, and supported enough to explore what their system is ready for. The modality isn’t the treatment plan, the person is.
How Lindsey works
Her work draws on neuroscience, attachment, and nervous system regulation. She helps clients see how past experiences shape present patterns, and she supports them in building self-trust and emotional resilience.
The toolkit
Lindsey combines evidence-based therapies with brain-based, trauma-informed methods. Her aim is a collaborative space where change happens at a pace that feels right to you.

Brain-based and trauma-informed

Approaches
How Lindsey uses each approach
These are Lindsey’s own descriptions.
- Brainspotting
I use Brainspotting to help clients work with emotional and physical experiences that may be difficult to access through talking alone. We identify an eye position connected to what they’re noticing and allow space for processing, with close attention to their pace and our therapeutic connection. I am a Certified Brainspotting Practitioner and Consultant, with training in Phases 1–3, the Masters Class, Brain Science, and Harmonic Brain Healing.
- EMDR
I use EMDR when past experiences continue to affect how a client feels, thinks, or responds in the present. Sessions include preparation and identifying relevant memories, beliefs, emotions, and body sensations, followed by processing with bilateral stimulation when the client is ready. I have training in EMDR.
- Somatic work
I bring attention to the body throughout our work, helping clients notice tension, breathing, grounding, and shifts in how they feel. We explore these experiences so clients can better recognize their responses and develop ways to feel more present and supported. My approach draws on my Brainspotting, mindfulness, and other body-informed training.
- DBT
I use DBT to help clients work through intense emotions, get through difficult moments, communicate their needs, and strengthen boundaries. We connect the skills to what is happening in their everyday lives and practice ways to use them outside of sessions. I completed foundational training through Marsha Linehan’s institute and have extensive additional training and over 10 years of experience practicing DBT.
- CBT
I use CBT to help clients notice connections between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, especially patterns that contribute to anxiety, depression, or feeling stuck. Together, we explore those patterns and practice more flexible ways of thinking and responding. I have training in CBT.
- Compassion-Focused Therapy
I use compassion-focused approaches with clients who struggle with self-criticism, shame, or feeling that they’re never doing enough. We explore how those patterns developed and practice responding to themselves with more understanding and support. I have training in Compassion-Focused Therapy.
- Mindfulness
I weave mindfulness into sessions to help clients notice what is happening within them without immediately judging it or needing to change it. This might include grounding, observing thoughts and emotions, or bringing attention back to the present in a way that feels comfortable for them. I have training in mindfulness.
- EFT/Tapping
I use EFT/Tapping as an option for clients who find it helpful to combine attention to an emotion or concern with tapping on specific points on the body. We may use it to support coping with distress while noticing how they respond along the way. I have training in EFT/Tapping.
Outside the office
Outside of her clinical work, Lindsey keeps her own nervous system at ease through adventure and time with people she loves. She skis, rides ATVs and snowmobiles, and plays tennis. She spends time with loved ones, often by the water.
